Final Year Project

Project Title

Local Bureaucracy and Social Welfare in Pakistan Insights into The Administration of Ehsaas in Karachi

Description

This thesis marks the trajectory of the current scholarship on bureaucracy in Pakistan. It identifies the gaps in the relevant academic literature and aims to address common questions in the field of Pakistani public administration. The scholarship on Pakistan's bureaucracy maps out its historical evolution since Independence. In this thesis, a new conceptual model emerges to conceive the bureaucratic relations and the citizen's interaction with these institutions. Instead of analyzing the bureaucratic procedures in isolation, the government's Ehsaas program is the fundamental unit of analysis in this paper. It is through this program that the bureaucracy and its processes are examined.
